According to countless legends, the origins of this tower remain shrouded in mystery. Some believe it was built by the gods in a single day to demonstrate their power and grandeur to humanity. Others claim it was a demonic citadel constructed to invade the world of men, only to be abandoned and forgotten after the demons were defeated in the Great War. The most widely accepted tale is tied to the Demon Morroc. When the demon descended upon the lands of mankind, the swordsman Thanatos stood against him. Their battle raged for ten days and nights until Thanatos emerged victorious and sealed the demon within the southern deserts of Rune-Midgard. To honor the hero’s sacrifice, a great tower was erected and named Thanatos Tower, a symbol of courage and self-sacrifice. Years later, the Rekenber Corporation hired the Zonda expedition team to reclaim and utilize the tower for research purposes. Unaware of the dangers hidden within, the team began construction work, but soon encountered inexplicable phenomena and suffered catastrophic losses. The project was ultimately abandoned, leaving the tower to decay once more. Now its halls are overrun with monsters manifestations of an ancient evil. To contain the threat, brave adventurers are being recruited to cleanse the tower and uncover its dark secrets.

Through him, players can enter Thanatos Tower.
The first entry fee is 5,000 Zeny. However, after signing a contract with the Rekenber Corporation inside the tower, all subsequent entries will cost only 3,000 Zeny.

 

Contract with the Rekenber Corporation

 

Ditze Rafa /navi tha_t01 149/78 is a representative of the Rekenber Corporation, the organization conducting large-scale research within the mysterious Thanatos Tower.

To gain access to the tower’s upper floors, players must sign an official cooperation contract with the corporation. Speak with the receptionist on the 1st floor of Thanatos Tower and agree to the terms.

 

After signing the contract, you will receive the following benefits:

- Access to the upper floors of Thanatos Tower.
- Reduced entrance fees.
- Official status as a Rekenber mercenary, allowing you to accept special assignments.

 

Accessing the Upper Floors of Thanatos Tower

 

To travel between the tower’s floors, players may either use the traditional portal system or speak with Rie Knize /navi tha_t01 140/78, a friendly employee of the Rekenber Corporation who operates a specialized lift service.

Service Cost: 1,000 Zeny

 

Floor Restrictions:
- Floors 7 and 8 are available only to players with Base Level 95 or higher.
- Floor 9 and above require Base Level 180 or higher.

Other Changes to Thanatos Tower

1. Shy Blade /navi tha_t02 231/161, who is responsible for access verification, can now allow any player to enter the 3rd floor regardless of party size or composition. To gain access to the upper floors of Thanatos Tower, players must sign a contract with Ditze Rafa /navi tha_t01 149/78.

 


2. All quests related to summoning Thanatos have been removed from the game.
3. Movement between floors is now handled directly through portals, without requiring completion of the original questline.
4. Several monsters on the floors of Thanatos Tower have been relocated, while others have been replaced with new monsters.

He is searching for adventurers willing to assist in the exploration of a mysterious area known as the Memory of Thanatos - a special zone tied to ancient events of the past.

Other Changes

1. A merchant specializing in the trade and exchange of Madogear-related items has expanded their inventory. The following items are now available for purchase:
Mado Emergency Gear, Mado Strengthening Suit.

2. Equipment from certain Memorial Dungeons and special field areas can now also be obtained directly from monsters. Previously, all such items could only be acquired using materials dropped within those dungeons. Now, players have a chance to obtain them through combat. Additionally, Illusion weapons of Level 4 may now drop with higher random enchantment values than those achievable through standard stone enchanting.

5. New Game Settings InterfaceThe in-game settings system has been updated. Previously, graphics and sound settings were separated into different menus, but they are now unified into a single Game Settings window (accessible via the Esc menu) with two categories: Standard and Advanced.
Standard Settings
The Standard Settings tab allows players to:

- select the interface theme;
- adjust visual effects;
- customize controls;
- change BGM and sound effect volume;
- view and configure command shortcuts.
The Advanced Settings tab provides greater control over graphics and performance options, including:

- DirectX selection;
- graphics card selection (for systems with multiple GPUs);
- screen resolution and display mode settings;
- texture quality adjustment;
- additional advanced configuration options.

As part of this update, adjustments were made to several skills in order to improve overall balance and gameplay experience.
