1. Speak with Gein in Izlude /navi izlude 132/49. He found the fishing rod of his friend Sirud, who went missing three months ago, but it looks brand new. Gein suggests consulting the marine researcher Jerimon, who might explain this oddity. The scholar can be found in the eastern library of Prontera /navi prt_in 157/66.
2. In the Prontera Library, meet the scholar Jerimon /navi prt_in 157/66 and show him Sirud's Fishing Rod. He will examine the item, tell you about the Bayalan Abyss, and ask you to check if anything else surfaced near the discovery site.
3. Return to the Izlude dock and speak with Gein again /navi izlude 132/49. Ask if anything else was found besides the fishing rod. He will give you 1x Abyssal Essence, a mysterious substance discovered near the same location.
4. Visit the Prontera Library again and report your findings to Jerimon /navi prt_in 157/66. Watch his experiment with deep sea water. When he runs short on essence, give him the 1x Abyssal Essence received from Gein. Then head back to Izlude to continue the experiment.
5. On Izlude’s shore, talk to Jerimon again /navi izlude 132/54. After a short dialogue with him, Gein, and Gein’s friends, the moment of truth arrives. When Jerimon gives the signal, take his hand to activate the whirlpool.
6. After entering the Water Illusion, speak with Jerimon /navi iz_d04_i 127/228. To help Sirud, you must obtain Abyss Essences. The scholar believes they might drop from local creatures.

7. After defeating the monsters, talk to Jerimon again /navi iz_d04_i 127/228. He will confirm his theory and ask you to bring 10x Abyssal Essence to attempt to create a whirlpool to send Sirud back to the surface.
Reward: 2x Illusion Stone, 4441860 Base EXP and 3109300 Job EXP
8. Once you have all the required items, talk to Jerimon again /navi iz_d04_i 127/228 and hand over 10x Abyssal Essence. He will offer to return you to the surface immediately. Agree to complete the story quest.
Reward: 4441860 base EXP, 3109300 job EXP, and 2x Illusion Stone.
NPC: Gatekeeper /navi iz_d04_i 129/232.
Adventurers of base level 180 and above can enter the second level of the Abyss by speaking with the Gatekeeper.
